Newborn Nursery Essentials

Decorating my baby’s nursery is one of my loveliest memories. I am a mom who adores beautiful spaces and quality products, so this part of preparing for my baby was certainly my sweetest joy.

I believe in investing in newborn nursery essentials that make your life easier, your baby safer, and your home more beautiful. When the baby comes, making things easier for you should be a priority, and practical does not have to mean boring. In other words, you can create appealing spaces where you will enjoy even the toughest parts of motherhood.

If you do not know where to start, I am here to help you out. My guide is designed to teach you how to create a nursery that combines style, function, and a touch of luxury.

Sleeping Station: Safety and Comfort First

The heart of any nursery is where your little one sleeps. Whether you opt for a chic crib, a Moses basket, or a mini bassinet, make sure you have a firm, flat mattress that fits snugly.

I always recommend adding two to four fitted crib sheets to your list of nursery essentials, and choose ones that feel soft and wash well, since you will be changing them often.

Also, you should not forget about sleeping bags because they are a must, especially for safer sleep and easy nighttime diaper changes. I love having a few in different tog ratings for seasonal changes. However, as the baby grows, you will decide what they truly need.

Moreover, a room thermometer and baby monitor are newborn nursery essentials since peace of mind is priceless. If you like a touch of whimsy, a musical mobile or nightlight can add a gentle ambiance, but remember less is more when it comes to sleep distractions.

For those who appreciate high-end design, investing in a beautiful nursery set, such as a cot, dresser, and wardrobe, can elevate the whole room. This will make the entire nursery match, so if you are after aesthetics, this is it.

Changing Station: Functionality and Style

Changing diapers is hardly glamorous, but your station can be! A quality changing table and mat make all the difference. And, of course, a good setup!

You should keep cotton wool, a bowl for water, wipes, and nappies within arm’s reach. Do not forget muslin cloths because they are lifesavers for spills, messes, and burping. You will go through dozens, so remember to stock up in style.

Feeding Station: Cozyness and Practicality

Feeding your baby, whether breastfeeding or bottle-feeding, should be comfortable for both of you.

So, you may want to invest in a supportive breastfeeding pillow, breast pads, nipple cream, and, if needed, nipple shields.

For bottle-feeding, you will want six to eight bottles and teats, a sterilizer, bottle warmer, and bottle brush. And again, muslins are your best friend. However, if you plan to breastfeed exclusively, you may want to wait on purchasing multiple bottles, a warmer, and a sterilizer. You might not end up using them, so there is no need to buy in advance.

When it comes to the feeding station, the most important thing is to create a cozy corner, and you can do that with a plush glider or rocking chair. I promise you will appreciate the comfort during those late-night feeds.

Personalize Your Space

Before you start adding newborn nursery items, take time to think about what makes sense for your family. Keep in mind that the best nursery is the one that fits your lifestyle and reflects your taste.

Your newborn’s space is more than a room. It is a sanctuary for both of you. So, make sure you invest in thoughtful newborn nursery essentials, choose quality, and embrace the joy of creating a space that is as functional as it is beautiful.
